While legislation remains at the center of our mission, AIA Missouri has embarked upon a number of other initiatives to benefit the state.  Most notable of past initiatives are a pair of design charrettes that examined the futures of two state-owned historic properties.

In 1995, a weekend long charrette explored options and alternatives and offered new uses and a brighter future for the Missouri State Fairgrounds in Sedalia, Missouri.  [more]

That effort was followed by a similar charrette in 2000 for the Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City, Missouri.  This historic facility was slated to close as a prison in a few years and become surplus property of the state.  Our charette looked at ways to reuse the extensive grounds and historic buildings there.  [more]

Currently AIA Missouri is examining the currency of our state's regulations relating to the health, safety and welfare (HSW) protections afforded the public.  As we continue this effort, more information will become available through this site.

Architects are always interested in exploring new opportunities where design professionals and resources from across the state may benefit an issue of state wide importance.  If you have an issue or know of one, please do not hesitate to contact us
